The Colorado Buffaloes are experiencing a decline in season ticket renewals for the first time in the Coach Prime era, with only 78.3% of last year's season ticket holders choosing to renew.
The Buffaloes had sold 20,284 season tickets for the upcoming campaign as of Tuesday afternoon, down from 23,987 season tickets sold last year.
The renewal rate is down from a 98% renewal rate each of the previous three years.
The decline in season ticket renewals may be attributed to the team's 3-9 season in 2025.
Despite the decline, CU is expecting to surpass the amount of season tickets sold in Sanders' first season in Boulder, 2023, when 20,606 were sold.
The Buffs will kick off their 2026 season on September 4 against Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
Single game tickets and mini-plans are currently on sale at Cubuffs.com/tickets.
The home portion of the schedule includes matchups with Texas Tech, Utah, Kansas State, Houston, and Central Florida.
And the team is looking to improve on last year's performance with a new season ahead.
But the decline in season ticket renewals is a concern for the team.
So the Buffaloes will need to work on attracting new fans and retaining existing ones.
The team's performance on the field will be crucial in determining the success of their season ticket sales.
According to CU spokesperson Steve Hurlbert, the Buffs expect to land somewhere between the number of season tickets sold in 2023 and 2024.
In 2022, the last season before Sanders' arrival, CU sold just 14,915 season tickets.
The Buffs sold out of season tickets in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
The team is looking to continue their strong sales despite the decline in renewals.
With the season kicking off on September 4, the Buffaloes are gearing up for a new year of college football,
